Last week I had a hugely enjoyable evening reading/book-signing event courtesy of Club Monaco and Strand Bookstore, thank you to both. There were piles of scones and jam tarts and mini shepherd’s pies from Tea & Sympathy and a fine time was had by all—particularly those who came only for the free food, those guys were free food party animals. I think I even heard the words “chug chug chug” at some point. And a book party isn’t a real book party until someone has chugged some free scones.
Here’s a little photo gallery of the night.
- The invite
- I’m sure the food was excellent, but as these things make me feel sick, I ate nothing
- There are actually four and twenty blackbirds baked into one of those mini shepherd’s pies
- If anyone can email me a good caption for this photo, I will send them a prize
- Working the signing table like a pro
- Yes, I did completely set up this shot so that my book would be next to the most interesting writer of the 21st century
- The most animated I’ve ever looked in my life—terrifyingly preacher-like
- Me and my special signing pen
- Me using my special signing pen
- Believe it or not, it was actually my wife who made me pose for this shot; and I think I look comfortable as hell
